Getting ready to stream on YouTube? You’ll need a stream key to link your streaming software with your YouTube account. This guide will walk you through locating your stream key and setting it up in OBS Studio.
Note: Keep your stream key safe and private. Don’t share it with anyone. If someone gets access to your stream key, you can create a new one by clicking the “Reset” button in the Stream Key section.
To find your stream key on YouTube, follow these steps:
- Visit YouTube Studio and sign in if you aren’t already logged in.
- Click the “Create” button in the upper-right corner.
- Select “Go Live” from the dropdown menu.
- Under “Right Now,” click “Start.”
- Choose the “Streaming Software” option and click “Go.”
- In the Stream Settings section, click the “Copy” button next to the stream key to copy it to your clipboard.
Now add your YouTube stream key to OBS:
- Open OBS.
- Click “Settings” in the lower-right corner to open the settings window.
- Select “Stream” in the left sidebar.
- Choose “YouTube” in the Service dropdown menu.
- Paste your YouTube stream key into the “Stream Key” field.
- Click “OK” to save your settings.
Now OBS is linked to your YouTube channel! When you’re ready to go live, click “Start Streaming” in OBS.
