OBS is arguably the most popular software for live streaming to Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Kick, and any other website. But, just like any software, it will require updating occasionally.
To do this, open OBS. If an update is available, a popup screen should appear with the new update outlining all the changes and the version number.
In this instance, all you need to do is click the update now button, which will close and conduct the updating process. When it’s finished, it will ask you to launch OBS.
If the box doesn’t come up when you start OBS, it is possible that either the update check failed or the “Skip Version” button was pressed. So, to manually check for updates, just click the Help tab at the top left of the screen, scroll down to Check for Updates, and select that. If there is an update, it will check, download, and install it.
Lastly, if your OBS still fails to find an update, you know for certain that there is one. Just go to the OBS website, download the correct version for your chosen platform, and run the file.
Once downloaded, you will have the latest version of OBS and can install it and you’ll have updated your OBS installation.
