One of the biggest mistakes new streamers make when creating their Twitch account is to enable the save VOD setting for their account. So, in this short guide, we will show you how to do that, along with some information depending on your Twitch status (partner, affiliate, etc.)
To start, go to your Twitch Dashboard, click Settings then Stream, and you will end up on your Stream Key and Preferences page.
Once on that page, scroll down a bit and get to the VOD Settings section. Now, to enable Twitch to save your VODs or past broadcasts, you just need to click the little button so it moves to the right and displays a little checkmark.
You can also check the Always Publish VODs if you want to publish your VODs as you’re streaming. If people want, they could go to your channel and click that VOD while you are streaming and scrub back just in case they missed something.
Below is some information regarding how long past broadcasts, highlights, and uploads have been stored. Depending on your user level, your broadcasts have different lengths for which they stay on the website.
Partner, Turbo & Prime Users | Affiliates | Other Broadcasters | |
---|---|---|---|
Past Broadcasts | 60-day storage | 14-day storage | 7-day storage* |
Highlights | Saved indefinitely | Saved indefinitely | Saved indefinitely |
Uploads | Saved indefinitely | Saved indefinitely | Saved indefinitely |
*7-day storage (formerly 14 days) beginning September 1, 2022, for channels that are not a Partner, Affiliate, Amazon Prime, or Twitch Turbo user.
