Viewers who subscribe to your channel get a little sub badge next to their name to show that they support your stream.
As your subscribers keep their subscriptions, they accumulate the time they’ve been subscribed to your channel, such as 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, etc., and with custom subscriber badges, you can customise them in a way that reflects your channel to thank them for their support.
To get started, go to your Twitch Dashboard and click Monetization and then Subscriptions.
Next, you need to click Subscriber Badges and it will take you to another page that shows any subscriber badges you already have along with how many slots you have open to fill with badges.
The more subscribers you have for longer periods, the higher-tenured badges you unlock. For example, I can upload up to 7.5 years of subscriber badges, and I unlock the next one on 26/09/24. You can check this on your account on the Subscriber Badges page.
To upload your own sub badges you will need three images the same but different size. There’s a maximum file size of 25kb, and it cannot be animated; it must be the exact same image and square. Once you’ve got them all just, simply click on Upload Image in each box, one at a time, and upload the correct resolution image to each box.
While selecting your sub badges, you have to adhere to some rules. They’re pretty simple, straightforward, and common sense. They are as follows:
- Nudity and obscene or sexually suggestive content.
- Drugs or drug paraphernalia.
- Hate speech, racist, derogatory, and harassing words or imagery.
- Explicit words or gestures.
- Images of single letters (subscriber badges may have single letters if they represent the channel's brand).
- Violations of Twitch Brand Assets.
- Violations of any third-party intellectual property or privacy rights, such as copyrights, trademarks, or rights of publicity. Remember, these may be subject to DMCA takedowns or other requests for removal by the rights holders.
Once you have your three badges in the correct size format and uploaded to the Twitch website, to finish, just click Upload Badge, and it will upload to your channel, and the subscribers that have reached the subscription time allocated to their sub badge will get to show off their new sub badge in chat!
