What does Kappa mean?

The Kappa emote on Twitch is commonly used to signal sarcasm, irony, or a joke. It lets others know that the previous statement isn’t meant to be taken seriously.
The face in the Kappa emote is actually a photo of Josh DeSeno, a former employee at Justin.tv, which later became Twitch. The emote got its name because DeSeno was interested in Japanese mythology, where a turtle-like water spirit called the ‘kappa’ exists.
